Yiddish craze
I think I have found my true calling, in terms of discovering a new language. Italian's on the big to-do list because my dream is to travel to Italy and Korean's a beautiful soft language, I think. But nothing, NOTHING, beats Yiddish, except maybe English. These are english words of Yiddish origin:
chutzpah : ballsiness, guts, daring, audacity, effrontery
kitsch : trash, especially gaudy trash
schmaltz : excessive sentimentality; chicken fat or drippings used as a shmeer on bread (this I guess, is where the sentimentality comes from)
shtick : comic theme; a defining habit or distinguishing feature
Bagel's a Yiddish word! I am totally made for Yiddish:)
And my favourite Yiddish word of the moment?
schmuck : a contemptible or foolish person; a jerk; literally means 'penis'
Hahaha:) Now, Yiddish is way cooler than huayu. And I bet a Yiddish sentence would be like a tongue-twister, I like!!!
