For the people
If I call today a good day, it's because I spent a very worthy eight bucks catching the V for Vendetta sneaks.
I was really excited about the movie! Good article in Times about themovie&politics, also been reading internet reviews AND everytime I go to kino, I'll see the comicbook staring at me. Haha.
So? I really really liked it! I shall give it the title of being the very first 2006 movie that I caught and LIKED wholeheartedly. LIKED it so much in fact, I bought First magazine to get the poster and am gonna hang it up in my newly-half-decorated room(: Teehee.
There's 'Girl from Ipanema' and 'Cry Me a River' as great music in the movie. There's various quotes. There's great lines. There's the crisp british accent that tops my chart of lovely sexayye accents, southern drawl being the second (Brokeback, Walk The Line and Capote, anyone?).
Superficial reasons aside, it's a great movie because it makes you think (albeit on rather familiar and old themes) and most importantly, I FELT (insert various emotions) when I watched it. And the latter is what makes a movie good, that it speaks to your heart in some weird way. Ong Sor Fern from Life! linked politics, bush, yadayada to the movie, but hey, though that adds layers and makes it more interesting, watch it for it is and it doesn't make it any less anything. Haha.
Sometimes, intellect (or what people view as intellect) gets in the way. The great thing about movies is that it speaks to you and for that instant, changes the way you view the movie-ended-credits-rolling-lights-on-pleasegetoutofyoursit world. ((:
Three words, go watch it! Today, I sat in the cinema with the credits rolling and just thought to myself, 'Hey I really liked it!'. So today is a good enough day.
